NZROHA membership application and renewal

 

**Important Announcement**

At our June 2026 AGM members voted to change the membership categories. All new applications must meet the new standards. Exisiting members are grandparented into the appropriate category.

Membership and classes of membership.

Clinical Holistic Aromatherapy Practitioner (CHAP): Clinical Holistic Aromatherapists who meet the standards of training criteria. $120.00 per annum.

• A CHAP is someone who has completed the required level of aromatherapy training and can apply this knowledge in a professional and safe way, according to their level of training:
• A CHAP can undertake a clinical assessment and prepare aromatic products to meet individualised needs based on knowledge of essential oils, safety and the human condition
• A CHAP can advise, consult on or develop aromatic interventions/products for others but may not directly provide them (e.g. consulting to a hospice)
• A CHAP may undertake consultations in person, or virtually

Aromatic Associate: (individual or business) Anyone invovled in any aspect of aromatherapy who does not meet CHAP requirement $75.00 per annum. (discounted to $50 from 1 October- 1 March)

Executive Committee Membership: Free for time they are on EC. EC members can make a contribution to the NZROHA if desired 

NZROHA Rules State: 6. ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION

iii) NZROHA Executive Committee members shall receive free NZROHA membership for the duration of their period in office as a token of appreciation for the time and work given. No payment is required. However, Executive Committee members can make a contribution to our Association if they wish to.

Clinical Holistic Aromatherapy Practitioner Requirements:

The following is the minimum requirements for entry to the NZROHA as a CHAP. Please note from June 2026 training in massage and the provision of seprate case studies is no longer required. Training may be udnertaken at a number of differnt places and the registrar will evalaute all proof of training submitted.

Aromatherapy applications  and Essential Oils-chemistry, usuage, blending, safety, pharmacokinetics, case studies and consultations (min 50 essential oils)	200 hours
Human Anatomy, Physiology and pathophysiology to NZQA  Level 4 or equivalent 40 credits	400 hours
Current First Aid Certificate NZQA First Aid Level 1 (Foundation): It is a 1-day course for low-risk environments.

Clinical Holistic Aromatherapy Practitioners have met the NZROHA standards of training criteria and are accepted by the NZROHA Registration Board and Executive Committee onto the Register.

Please send copies of your training trasncripts showing the hours, level and content 

International Aromatherapy Associations that want their courses and qualifications to become NZROHA approved, please make contact.

To retain CHAP status, members must pay their subscription fees by 31 March, provide evidence of their current First Aid Certificate (NZQA Foundation), bi-annually complete and provide evidence to the Register of their minimum 20 hours professional development completed over the last 2 years, consistent with the NZROHA rules. Note new members do not need to provide CPD until they have been a member for two years

Only NZROHA CHAPs are entitled to use the NZROHA initials and logo, be listed on our Website Members Directory, vote on matters at AGM and General Meetings, and participate in NZROHA sponsored promotions.

Aromatic Associates can use the words "Aromatic Associate Member of NZROHA" but cannot use the logo and do not receive a listing on the website. If a business wishes to become an Aromatic Associate we will list them if they offer a discount or offer to members.

As a CHAP of the NZ REGISTER OF HOLISTIC AROMATHERAPISTS INC. (NZROHA), you are entitled to the following membership benefits:

• be listed on the member directory on the NZROHA website (includes a photo, profile and contact information which you can upload yourself in the member only area. If any problems please contact Web Listing help.
• Receive an annual membership certificate
• free to advertise their own events, webinars, workshops, training on the NZROHA website and NZROHA social media (please email your information at least 2 weeks before the event with text in .doc format or email and image in jpeg or PNG format to webmistress@nzroha.com)
• be able to provide articles for the website (reviewed by Webmistress or education officer. Please ensure sources are acknowledged and images supplied are owned by you or copyright free)
• pay reduced fees for NZROHA conferences, events, and workshops.
• free admission to the NZROHA annual AGM with attendance qualifying towards continual professional development.
• be able to access the NZROHA member-only area.
• entitled to use NZROHA initials and logo
• be nominated to serve the Register as a member of the NZROHA Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is to be comprised of current financial members, of which only two can be Associate members (Ref: Rule 20. ii).

NZROHA Aromatic Associate Member - $75 per annum (discounted to $50 from 1 October to 31 March)

 Associate Members do not receive a NZROHA certificate

Associate Membership Requirements:

• Anyone can join us as an aromatic associate
  • students, retired practitioners, business, training providers, friends, or any person with an interest in the Aromatherapy sector.

As an Aromatic Associate Member of the NZ REGISTER OF HOLISTIC AROMATHERAPISTS INC. (NZROHA), you are entitled to the following membership benefits:

• pay reduced fees for NZROHA conferences, events, and workshops.
• advertise events, training and aromatherapy suppliers on the NZROHA website.
• be nominated to serve the Register as a member of the NZROHA Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is to be comprised of current financial members, of which only two can be Associate members (Ref: Rule 20. ii).
• International aromatherapy networking is welcomed, and anyone with a passion for aromatherapy can join us today as an Associate Member

All NZ Register of Holistic Aromatherapists Members must abide by the NZROHA Rules, Code of Ethics and Code of Practice.
